Five Easy Dolomites Hikes That Genuinely Wow Kids

You don’t need a mountaineer in the family to feel like one in the Dolomites. These five trails are short, mostly flat, and deliver jaw-dropping scenery that keeps even reluctant little walkers moving.
1. Lago di Braies loop
A flat, pram-friendly 3.5km circuit around an impossibly turquoise lake. Rent a rowing boat halfway round as the reward.
2. Alpe di Siusi meadows
Take the cable car up, then wander the gentle meadow paths. Cows, marmots, and mountain huts serving strudel — a toddler’s idea of heaven.
3. Adolf Munkel Trail (the easy stretch)
Walk the first section beneath the Odle peaks; turn back at the first rifugio. Pure drama, low effort.
4. Lago di Carezza boardwalk
Ten minutes of flat boardwalk to the “rainbow lake.” Quick, magical, and great when energy is low.
5. Pralongià from Corvara
Another cable-car cheat: ride up, stroll the high meadows, lunch at a hut, ride down. Maximum view per step.
Going with little legs
Pack layers (mountain weather turns fast), plan every walk around a hut with cake, and never underestimate how far the promise of a marmot sighting will carry a five-year-old.
